American warning to Turkey

World newspapers and media outlets touched upon the developments in Syria.

In New York Times newspaper, we read a news entitled "The establishment of monitoring posts along the border between Turkey and Syria." The newspaper quoted from the US Defense Minster James Matisse on Wednesday that the United States is setting up monitoring posts along the parts of the border between Turkey and Syria to help maintaining the focus on defeating IS in Syria.

Matisse told the journalists that the monitoring centers would not need to send additional US troops to Syria. The Pentagon says that it has about 2,000 soldiers in Syria.

"The monitoring centers aim to ensure the continuation of the Syrian Democratic Forces' (SDF) focus on eliminating the last bastions of IS in the area," the newspaper said.

"We are setting up monitoring posts in several sites along the Syrian border, the northern border of Syria which we consider to be a warning to Ankara if it wanted to do anything in the areas where we work," Matisse said.

"The aim of these centers is for our allies to concentrate on the fighting in the Middle Euphrates Valley to eliminate IS completely," Matisse said.
