Syrian Observatory: Guardians of Religion attacked Regime Forces

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the mercenary groups in Idlib launched an attack on the positions of the Regime Forces in the outskirt of the region isolated by the weapons set by the Russian-Turkish agreement, which resulted in the death of 9 elements of its forces.

The Head of the Syrian Observatory reported to the France press "Jihadi groups, including the Guardians of Religion, have launched an offensive against the positions of the Regime forces in the north-western Hama countryside at the outer edges of the demilitarized zone," according to the Russian-Turkish agreement in the northwestern province of Idlib and its environs.

He explained that the attack, resulted in the deaths of 9 elements of the Regime forces and armed loyalists as well as 5 fighters from the groups of mercenaries, led by the terrorist "Guardians of Religion" associated with al-Qaeda, which was previously declared rejection of the Russian-Turkish agreement.

Two months ago, Russia and Turkey reached an agreement to establish a demilitarized zone in Idlib and its environs with a depth of 15 to 20 kilometers, after the regime ordered a large-scale military operation in the region for weeks.

The demilitarized zone is located along the tangent lines between the Regime's forces and armed groups, and includes part of the Idlib with areas in the western Aleppo countryside, the northern Hama countryside and the north-eastern Latakia countryside.

Despite the agreement, the region occasionally encounters skirmishes and mutual clashes between the two sides.
