SDF resumed campaign to defeat terrorism

On Monday morning, the Arab newspapers touched upon the resumption of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign to eradicate IS in the east of the Euphrates and the continuing violations in the demilitarized zone.

Al-Sharq al-Awsat (Middle East): After the mediation of the Alliance with Turkey ... the preparation for a ground operation against IS

On the Syrian issue, al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper said that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) including Kurdish and Arab factions announced on Sunday the resumption of military operations against IS extremist organization in the eastern part of the country 10 days after its suspension. Information was obtained about its preparation to send more military reinforcements to the region, in preparation for the commencement of ground operations.

As a result of the intensive contacts between the General Command of our forces and the leaders of the International Alliance that aimed at defusing the crisis on the border. The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces decided to resume its military operations against IS organization, and stressed the continuation of the work till IS would be defeated definitively.

Al-Hayat: The violations continue in the buffer zone and the regime thwarts the infiltration of terrorists

In another context, al-Hayat addressed the ongoing violations in the demilitarized zone. The newspaper said, "The violations continued in the demilitarized zones of the governorates of Aleppo, Hama, Idlib and Lattakia in North-West Syria. The Syrian regime declared that its forces had thwarted attempts to infiltrate terrorists, where Morak crossing that links between the areas of the regime control and opposition's areas in Idlib was re-opened after it was closed last week."

The newspaper quoted from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the regime forces targeted with heavy machine guns the areas in vicinity of the town of Latamna which lies within the demilitarized zone in the northern countryside of Hama in conjunction with the continued shelling by the regime forces with artillery shells on the areas in the village of Tel al-Sakher that is located in the same countryside.

The Observatory pointed out that mutual attacks with artillery between the forces of the regime and its loyal supporters on the one hand and the armed factions and Hayet Tahrir al-Sham (Jabhet al-Nusra) in vicinity of Tel al-Sultan in the eastern countryside of Idlib within the demilitarized zone on the other hand were observed.

Al-Arab: Will the "Paris meeting" prepare for the return of Russian-Israeli coordination in Syria?

For its part, al-Arab newspaper addressed the meeting of the Israeli Prime Minister with the Russian President. The newspaper said, "The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in the French capital Paris on Sunday with the Russian President Vladimir Putin after doubts that the meeting took place against the background of Russia's position on the incident of the dropping of one of its aircraft in Syria last September which claimed responsibility for the Israeli side.

Netanyahu described the meeting on the sidelines of the celebration on the centennial of the end of World War I as "very important."  He said to the journalists, "The talk to the President Putin was good and practical, but I might even describe it as very important."

Observers are likely to have focused on the removal of tension that emerged against the backdrop of the downing of the Russian plane, and may open the way for the return of coordination between Russia and Israel in Syria, which is sought by Netanyahu.
