2nd conference of Syriac Women Union began

The second conference of the Syriac Women's Union was launched on Saturday afternoon under the slogan, "The Age of Women is Age of Democratic Civilization." The conference was attended by 200 members, in addition to delegations from the Women's Bureau in the Democratic Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Women's Council, Kongra Star, the Civil Defense Forces, Beth Nahrin Protection Forces, Suturo Women's Forces.

Where the activities of the conference began with holding a minute of silence, after which the official in the Syrian Women's Union, Nathira Korea delivered a speech in which she referred to the role of women since the beginning of humanity, where she said, "Women managed to reach high levels, in addition to her role in the human development. After the authority has transferred to men, then, the women became in the second class, became the property of men and were subjected to all kinds of torture."

She pointed out to the role in which the Syriac women have played in breaking the barriers and reaching high ranks by organizing themselves and participating in all aspects of life, especially the military.

The spokeswoman for the Syrian Women's Council, Lina Barakat, said during a speech at the conference, "Women in the Syriac society have an important role, such as the Virgin Mary."

Lina said, "At the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the Syriac women organized themselves in all aspects and international forums and participated in the solution and discussion of women's issues. This is considered a goal of their development and progress wherever they may be in addition to achieving the gender equality.

The conference will continue to deliver speeches. It is scheduled that a divan will be elected to follow the works of the conference, discuss the rules of procedure of the Union and then submit a draft of the proposals and resolutions to be discussed. The conference will conclude with the formation of an administration committee of the Women's Council in the Syriac Women's Union on the level of al-Jazeera region

It is noteworthy that the Syriac Women's Union had held its Constant Conference on 20/7/2013.
