Economic Committee in Ain Issa: We achieved self-sufficiency from our local production

The Economic Committee of Ain Issa district's Council has achieved self-sufficiency in flour for the district and rural areas, in addition to supporting livestock, and has only consumed 10% of its strategic wheat reserves so far.

The Economic Committee of Ain Issa District's Council belonging to GIRÊ SPÎ/ Tel-Abyed, received the wheat season from the farmers in the rural areas of the region at the beginning of June of this year at subsidized prices of 175 SY pounds per kilogram.

The amount of grain received from the farmers, estimated at about 30 thousand tons, three silos has been allocated for this purpose namely "Ain Issa, al-Jalabiya, al-Dahliz."

The grain have been brought from the silos that belong to Tel-Abyed to grind it and distributed to the bakeries in Ain Issa and its affiliated towns, which confirms the achievement of the region self-sufficiency of flour.

Invalid grains from these quantities are distributed after the end of the pre-milling process, which is called by the people of the region (bran) as feed for livestock.

The Co-chair of the Agriculutre Committee belonging to Economic Committee of Ain Issa Mohammed Adnan said that "the purpose of receiving winter season (wheat) from farmers in  the district by the Economic Committee for two purposes first; to support farmers not to be exploited by traders, and second; to achieve self-sufficiency of the flour for the high quality of wheat which has grown in our fields, and we did not need to import flour from other places. "

It is noteworthy that the center of al-Dahliz belonging to Gire Sipi canton and al-Jalabiya belonging to Kobani canton were filled by the farmers of the countryside of Ain Issa district with wheat, after the capacity of the silos of Ain Issa came to full.
