"Jib al-Furat" witness that has not testified yet

Some of IS black effects still exist and are ambiguous for international organizations or human rights. They are still a living witness to IS mercenaries' crimes, which are a concern source for the people of the region even after they have been liberated from the abomination of mercenaries, which reminds them of the brutality of their style and of dealing with people during their period of domination over the region.

A well or "Jib al-Furat" is one of the wells drilled on the southern sides of the Euphrates River and away from the dam's body about 1.5 km eastward on the fishermen road, which extends up to al-Sefsafa village in the east.

"Jib al-Furat" was excavated since the eighties of the last century in the period following the construction of the dam. The aim of the excavation was to measure the water levels of the river. The well hole is estimated at about 12 meters wide and an estimated depth of 25 meters.

"Jib al-Furat" has not been spared from the practices of ISIS, which turned it into a place to carry out executions, especially women’s, and to throw civilians alive into the well. Jib al-Furat is considered one of the mysterious areas where killings and executions of civilians are carried out in al-Tabqa city. Hundreds of corpses are likely to be down there, mostly to women, according to eyewitnesses from nearby houses and some fishermen.

According to some information provided by residents of nearby houses in the area and some fishermen who fish on the other side of the river, they have seen mercenaries at various times gather at the opening of the well and hear the sound of gunshots and visible traces of blood in the hole.

In the story of one of the fishermen from al-Safsafa village east of al-Tabqa city that on one of the spring of 2016 saw some elements of the mercenaries are taking 4 civilians, including a woman to the place of the well and shot them and threw them in the well.

In other accounts, mercenaries also threw civilians, who were executed on the streets and public squares and not handed over to their families, as well as mass graves that are occasionally discovered in the countryside of al-Tabqa.

For their part, residents of homes close to the well told ANHA agency's correspondent that they were heard gunshots in the late hours of the night with the screams of Allah Akbar that they used to use after the executions.

Because of the difficulty of the surrounding terrain of the well and its sandy nature and its big hole, no one has yet been able to approach or attempt to enter it, to find out what is inside and to discover the secrets inside it, thus, this well remains full of mysteries and a living witness to the mercenaries' crimes.
