Self-Protection Forces arrest 16 mercenaries, seizing weapons

Self-Protection Forces seized large quantities of weapons and ammunition and arrested 16 IS mercenaries during the “Battle to defeat terrorism" to defeat the mercenaries in the last pocket east of the Euphrates River.

During a search operation by the Self-Protection Forces, one of the forces involved in the campaign to liberate the mercenaries' last pocket in the eastern suburbs of Deir ez-Zor and the recently liberated areas on 5 October, it seized large quantities of ammunition and various light, medium and heavy weapons.

Isam Issa, the media official for the Self-Protection Forces, said the seized weapons were "120-mm mortar pads with large quantities of their fillings, Dushka weapons and thousands of bullets, as well as Kalashnikov and BKC weapons with their ammunition"

"During the camping process, our forces also arrested 16 mercenaries,"

The Syrian Democratic Forces continue their military operations as part of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign, the last stage, which was called "Battle to defeat terrorism" against IS mercenaries and the troops are now on the outskirts of al-Sousa and al-Shafa areas to siege the mercenaries in north and east Syria.
