2450 Iraqis returned home within two months

AL-Hol camp opened on 9 March 2016 near the political border between Syria and Iraq. Since then, the camp has begun to receive displaced Syrians from various Syrian cities who fled from the massacres of IS mercenaries, the mercenary factions of the Turkish occupation and regime forces, as well as flee of the Iraqis as a result of clashes in their areas.

Most displaced persons and refugees in al-Hol camp saw a safe haven, where the Democratic Autonomous Administration have provided aid to them and continued to provide the necessary assistance, in addition to providing protection to all the camp residents, in order to ensure the organization of the camp and the delivery of aid to all displaced persons and refugees, the administration of the camp in cooperation with the Democratic Society Movement have formed communes and councils, and one of these councils is the Iraqi Council, the Iraqi Refugee Council. The residents there are happy to be working together.

Iraqi refugees headed to Rojava, North Syria After the Iraqi army announced the campaign to liberate Mosul from ISIS on17 October, 2016, thousands of Iraqis, especially residents of Mosul area, sought refuge in Rojava, seeking for safe haven after had no option left in their homeland, in light of the increasing frequency of clashes in the vicinity of Mosul city.

After the liberation of Mosul, Iraqi refugees appealed to the Iraqi government to allow them to return to their homes after the cleaning of Mosul from the ISIS, stressing at the same time that despite all the hardships they faced, they secured security in Rojava - North Syria.

Since then, in coordination with the Democratic Autonomous Administration in al-Jazeera region and the administration of the camp and the Iraqi Council, thousands of Iraqis have returned to their cities, after completing their credentials to run the camp and the Iraqi government.

In this context, during the past two months, 2450 Iraqis left al-Hol camp in seven batches. Each batch of 350 people was handed over to the Iraqi government via Tel Koçer border crossing.

The administrator of the Iraqi council in al-Hol camp Kheder Saleh al-Kuten said "It is our mission to organize and register Iraqi refugees through coordination with the concerned parties in the Autonomous Administration and the Iraqi Ministry of Displacement and Migration to facilitate the return of the refugees to their homes, according to the coordination, 350 people are deported every week and handed over all the personal details."

It should be noted that al-Hol camp consists of five residential sections, three of which are for Iraqi refugees and two for Syrian displaced persons.
