Orgs stick to inaction in Ain Issa camp... while KRC helps

The Kurdish Red Crescent (KRC) has opened a medical center to provide primary health care to displaced people living in the camp since the beginning of the camp's opening on 6 November 2016.

The center consists of three clinics (women, children and internal diseases), 3 specialized doctors (women, general, children), 4 paramedics and 3 midwives, in addition to the vaccination section, which provides vaccines periodically including polio, measles, leishmania and other diseases.

The pharmacy offers free medicines for patients with first aid (wounds, serums medicines) and various medical services within the available facilities.

The KRC receives about 250-300 cases of patients of the displaced of Ain Issa camp on a daily basis. They are examined and provided with medication. Critical cases are transferred to Girê Spî hospital to be treated at the expense of the center.
Both Um Ahmed and Khadija al-Abdullah thanked the services provided by the Kurdish Red Crescent Center, confirming the good treatment they receive from the medical staff.

In the same context, the coordinator of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Jiwan Said, said that the center receives cases of disease 24 hours a day, adding that they are now conducting awareness campaigns inside the camp to prevent tuberculosis and typhoid, by touring to the displaced persons inside the camp and providing preventive guidance and healthy customs which protect them from these diseases.

In Ain Issa camp, several health organizations (the French and Dutch Doctors without Borders and al-Mawada organizations) offer only medical advice to patients without providing medical assistance and transfer them to private clinics in Ain Issa, ignoring the physical and difficult living conditions of the displaced.

This comes at a time when displaced people need medical care in the first place because of the difficult living conditions in which they spend their lives.
