Ilham Omar: We do not recognize of constitution not written by Syrians

In an interview with ANHA agency, Ilham Omar spoke about what is being discussed about efforts to draft a new constitution for Syria by the so-called mini-group.

She said "The constitution, which is not drafted by the Syrians, is useless"

"Those who come to write the constitution do not have any of them on the Syrian ground, they are not interested in resolving the Syrian crisis."

UN envoy to Syria Stephane de Mistura is seeking to form a constitutional committee to draft a new constitution for Syria, which has been in crisis for nearly eight years.

But De Mistura's efforts have fruited in the context of the divergent positions of influential countries on Syrian territory, notably Turkey, which wants to put its full hand on the share of the so-called "Syrian opposition."

The UN Special Envoy to Syria is holding international meetings with the "mini-working group" which includes America, France, Britain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Germany, to agree on the constitutional committee, and it is a step to satisfy the above- mentioned countries without paying attention to Syrian interior, while all the meetings went out without any agreement.

"We see that one of the outstanding parties is being ignored (Syrian Democratic Council), which liberated vast span of land in North Syria from the hands of IS mercenaries who threatened the entire world," says Ilham Omar, a senior official of the Syrian Democratic Council.

"We have not been invited to participate in the writing of the new constitution, while the opinion of the so called opposition groups that do not exist on the ground which is the cause of the scourge of the Syrian people is considered, and the real forces on the ground are being ignored."

In a reference to the position of the Syrian Democratic Council of efforts to form a committee and prepare the constitution, Ilham Omar said: "We, as the Syrian Democratic Council, see that this constitution is useless unless all the parties on the ground are gathered in writing it."

"The regional countries do not want to solve the Syrian crisis, the talks in Sochi, Astana, Geneva and other talks are deepening the Syrian crisis, and the Syrian people are absent, it is only a sharing of influence on Syrian territory," she said.

Ilham Omar said "the Syrian constitution, on which the countries have been working on does not represent us, and was supposed to have all the Syrian parties involved in writing its draft."
