Dêrik Residents protest under slogan "No to demographic change in Afrin"

Thousands of people converged on Azadi Square to participate in the demonstration organized by the Dirk District Council, with extensive participation in Dirk from Kurds, Arabs, Syriac and Armenians, as well as civil society organizations and many political parties, clerics, national figures and teachers of the Kurdish language.

The demonstrators marched through the main and branch streets of Direk, from Azadi Square through streets in the middle of the city center amidst a complete closure of shops and chanting slogans denouncing the resistance of Afrin. The demonstrators carried banners reading "Liberation of Afrin, is a liberating of Syria from terrorism and Turkish occupation"," we condemn the international silence about Afrin" In addition to pictures of the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan and pictures of the martyrs.

After the demonstrators arrived at Martyrs' Square, the demonstration turned into a mass rally. After a minute of silence, the co-chair of Dêrik district Sahib Othman's council gave a speech in which he said: "First of all, we have mercy to the souls of all the martyrs who have provided their blood for the liberation of the land and we pledge them to walk in their paths and do our best to liberate Afrin from the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries."

Othman appealed to free conscience and human rights organizations to face the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries and put an end to the practices committed in Afrin from killing, looting, displacement and demographic change.

The administrator in the martyrs' families of Dêrik, Suad Mustafa gave a speech appealed to all peoples of North Syria to unite and face the Turkish occupation, being the first sponsor of terrorist gangs.

"The leader's philosophy in which he called for the brotherhood of the people is our salvation from the Turkish occupation that divided the people in North Syria, so we must follow the philosophy of the democratic nation, which calls for coexistence and the peoples' brotherhood."

On behalf of the Syriac component, member of the executive office of the Syrian Union Party, Raed Yousef, said: "We start in our struggle from the philosophy which has changed the reality shape and the image of the democratic nation, the philosophy of coexistence and fraternity, which carries the whole spectrum of society."

"Despite all the attempts by the Turkish occupation to destabilize security and stability in the area, we will be greater than all strife," he added.

"We pledge our people in Afrin that we will stand with them side by side until the liberation of every inch from the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries."

After the words were finished, the demonstration ended with slogans echoing the resistance of Syrian Democratic Forces and the People's and Women's Protection Units.
