Russian official: We to deliver S-400 system to Turkey next year

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov told reporters that Almaz-Anti company will not face problems in terms of demand over the next 10 years, and explained that not only their traditional partners want to get the S-400.

He said "As you know, the NATO countries as well, Turkey, regardless of all the threats from the United States, do not give up this contract, and will get the technologies in accordance with the contract of the deadline in 2019."

Russia and Turkey signed a loan agreement on the S-400 in December 2017, under which Ankara would buy two air defense systems. The two sides also agreed on technology cooperation to develop the S-400 production in Turkey.

Washington and NATO members have criticized Ankara for the deal and earlier reports said the US Congress intended to suspend the delivery of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey because of Ankara's intention to buy an air defense system outside NATO.

Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of State Wes Mitchell said that after the purchase of the S-400 system from Russia, Ankara could be subject to sanctions under the Act against America's foes.
