Brethren Church opened in Kobanî

The Committee of Christians and the Christians living in Kobanî canton in the Euphrates region opened on Thursday a church called Church of the Brethren in Kobanî based on the concept of the democratic nation and the co-existence of sects and religions. The co-chair of the Democratic Society Movement’ Council Ahmed Sheikho, the co-chair of the Internal Body in Kobanî canton Bozan Khalil, representatives of political parties, civil society organizations and dozens of the residents of the city attended the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony began with holding a minute of silence in tribute to the martyrs. After that, the co-chair of the Democratic Society Movement Council Ahmed Sheikho delivered a speech as he stressed the peoples’ fraternity and the co-existence under the Democratic Autonomous Administration achieved be virtue of the struggle and sacrifices of the martyrs.

In his speech, Ahmed Sheikho touched upon some parties that tried to sow strives among the sects in North Syria and distort the true Islam. The opening of such a church in Kobanî city is proof of the failure of all those policies that were plotted against the people. This church was the result of Rojava Revolution that unified the religions and sects, planted passionate and fraternity among the people and took from the concept of the democratic nation as its basis.

For his part, the administrative of the church Omer Firas pointed out that this church is a product of Kobanî resistance, in which hundreds of sons and daughters of the Kurdish people of all the components and sects sacrificed. Kobanî city is the key of the freedom of the Middle East. Brotherhood, love and coexistence started from this city.

After the words were finished, the Christians performed the prayers, and the hymns band performed religious songs.
