France threatens regime to bombard if chemical used in Idlib

The French army’s commander confirmed that his forces are ready to carry out strikes on the targets of the Syrian regime if they would use chemical weapons in an expected attack to regain control of Idlib governorate.

The speech of the armed forces’ commander François Leukwantre came before a small group of journalists who told them the he expect to eliminate the remnants of IS at the end of November.

In the same context, the US President Donald Trump warned on Wednesday from committing a massacre in Idlib and said during a meeting held with the Emir of Kuwait the sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah at the White House, “The world and the United States are monitoring the developments of the situations, and I follow this matter closely.”

The Russian Foreign Minister’s Deputy Sergei Ryabkov said later, “It is impossible to reach a settlement in Syria without solving the problem of Idlib,” to confirm that the battle’s decision was taken in Moscow, pending its date only.

The Syrian regime has been sending reinforcements to the surrounding of Idlib for weeks in preparation for launching a military operation that increases the fears of occurring a humanitarian catastrophe on a scale which the country has not witnessed since the beginning of the conflict for more than seven years.

The United Nations and the international community warned that a large-scale attack on the governorate would lead to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011 that left 350,000 killed.
