1st 3 communes formed in Merkada villages

The residents of three villages related to Merkada town in al-Hasaka district formed their communes during separated meetings.

Al-HASAKA

On Sunday, the residents Kesh Kesh, Kesh Kesh Jabbur and Zeyanat villages in Merkada town formed their communes in order to manage themselves by themselves within meetings held in cooperation with the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM).

The three meetings began with holding a minute of silence. Then, speeches were delivered during the meetings, explaining the structure of the commune and its importance in managing the society in addition to the role that the communes’ members must play to serve their villages.

After that, a co-chair was elected and six committees were formed for each commune. The committees are the Protection Committee, the Reconciliation Committee, the Service Committee, the Youth Committee, the Economy Committee and the Women Committee.

The meetings ended with questions suggested by the residents about the commune and the mechanism of work within it.
