During an interview with ANHA agency with the co-chair of the Economic Committee for the Democratic Civil Administration of al-Tabqa area, Ahmad Sulaiman on the decisions of the monthly meeting of trade coordination and the General Customs Department in North Syria, he said: "The markets' movement, especially those related to the availability of supplies and commercial materials in North Syria with consideration of the prices in order to achieve balance and benefit citizens in all segments."

The most important thing that was put forward and approved is the decision to raise customs duties on all imported goods of Turkish origin, so that the value of the customs duty reaches to 5 %. The decision is effective at all border crossings and customs yards since the date of signing this weekend.

"This decision was taken as a response to Turkish arrogance,"Suliaman said. "This decision was taken after careful technical and financial consideration to limit the trade of Turkish goods, which are due to the purchase of a weapon used to kill our people in north Syria."

The exchange rate of the Turkish lira against international currencies is in a state of extreme collapse as the pace of the lira deterioration accelerated within one hour to record the lowest level in more than ten years, losing nearly 40% of its value against the dollar under successive US sanctions.

Sulaiman noted: "We as the Economic Committee through the field of our work, care about the lives of citizens from both near and far perspectives, we work on the ground to secure the need of purchasing citizens through our projects of industrial and commercial nature and priority agricultural projects.

The meeting focused on the agricultural situation because the area enjoys all the factors and climatic conditions suitable for the development of the agricultural sector and the expansion of green areas, and plans were put forward to support agricultural production and livestock through the provision of seeds and fertilizers and agricultural subsidies to farmers, and provide fuel materials for the agricultural side.

As for the animal side, fodder materials, veterinary medicines and vaccines will be provided, as well as the processing of a number of poultry and cattle farms.

In view of the constructional movement taking place in North Syria and in particular the newly liberated areas by the Syrian Democratic Forces, all cement and iron building materials will be secured in addition to full customs clearance to rebuild what was destroyed by IS mercenaries from vital centers and civil institutions.

Sulaiman concluded by saying: "Our role is built on securing the need of the individual and protecting the traders so that we take both sides, not just the profit side. The traders who work today according to the conditions of the committee and the directorates are the biggest contributor to building this country and developing its economy to achieve self-sufficiency."
