Great achviements to people 's municipality in al-Tabqa since liberation

After liberating al-Tabqa city on  May10, 2017  last year, the accumulation of dirt and remnants of war in the main streets, and the voluntary work initiated dozens of people from al-Tabqa in addition to a number of former workers in the municipal sectors a voluntary campaign, providing them with simple household tools (shovels and small vehicles ) In order to eliminate accumulated waste.

One of the technicians supervising on repair of generators was martyred by land mine left behind IS during a campaign to clean up the city.

On 25 May last year, the most important step after the liberation days was the People's Municipality in al-Tabqa , where the municipality since the beginning of its formation on the restoration of the elements of natural life of the civilian despite lack of potential and the difficulties encountered during its work.

Services provided during the year

The workshops and the machineries  work in available in the municipality on a daily basis carry out the removal of the city's waste in addition to the rubble, rubble and war remnants within the city, as well as follow up the repair and rehabilitation of sewage lines and maintenance of damaged water networks in different areas despite the difficulty of work and the lack of existing machinaries .

Sewage

Most of the sewage networks in the area of the neighborhoods located north of the city are out of service. The sewage department arrived after the inspection and the study showed that the pipes were damaged or blocked due to tunnel digging byIS mercenaries calling for linking their military points and securing caches for their leaders before liberation. The main drainage network, not to mention that the study confirmed the erosion of part of the network due to non-renewal of more than ten years.

Despite of the difficulties facing the municipality in the work and the lack of necessary machinaries, the municipality has taken the sewage department in cooperation with the technical office and several organizations for the maintenance of the sewage network. According to the reports of the municipality according to the Co-chair Abdul Wahab Sulaiman, the municipality has so far repaired about 70% to rehabilitate the sewage system in several stages.

Water pumps and drinking water network

After 50 days of water shortages due to the fighting and the flooding of pumping stations in the city and the countryside by IS , the municipality has allocated a number of fire engines and tanks to distribute water to the neighborhoods and alleys of the city, while technical repair workshops were doing their best to pump drinking water into the city.

However, despite the above achievements, the water unit of al-Tabqa has been suffering from two aspects, one of which is the severe shortage of machinaries and equipment for its work. The second is the Turkish occupation had restrained Euphrates River eight months, which threatens its equipment with damage.

"The water unit has been able to repair the drinking water network in the region by 75 percent so far, and work is continuing until the water reaches all al-Taqba 'shouses," said the Co-chair of the municipality, Abdul Wahab al-Sulaiman.

Department of control in the municipality

In recent months, the Municipality has witnessed a steady increase in the number of sections of the Municipality and its orientation towards specialization in view of the remarkable economic and demographic growth. The attention has been given to the health aspects of following up the food safety standards applicable to restaurants and stores, supervising the quality of meat from the slaughterhouse, (Control, control, inspection, health and agriculture).

Environment Office

The municipality gave the environmental and aesthetic aspects of the city an exceptional dimension after removing most of the rubble of the destroyed buildings. A plan was launched to paint the walls of public buildings and institutions. In return, a circular was issued calling on shop owners and shops to paint their shop doors in cream and dark brown colors..

In addition to the insecticide to fight insects and pests in the houses, streets, hospitals and slaughterhouse where the rubble and barriers were removed from the entrances of al-Tabqa city and in its main streets and the activation of public parks.

In terms of the municipality's properties of houses, agricultural land and areas have been the conclusion of leases with citizens and renewal according to the assessments of committees to set prices suitable for citizens and the announcement of bids sealed envelopes of several shops owned by People 's municipality .

The municipality has taken a number of investment projects (renting premises, restaurants, cafeterias, collection of services, violations, investment of gardens) and developing long-term economic strategies that provide a financial asset and blocks in future projects under study by the technical office.

A study was also conducted to establish a regulated central market away from the usual chaos and randomization, the project of establishing an industrial city, the project of repairing sidewalks and sidewalks and repairing roads with asphalt.

"The initial work focused on building trust with al-Tabqa people to get them to return to their city, especially those who abandoned it for years by providing sutiable ground," he said.

Sulaiman added: "The municipality has prioritized cleanliness and water on a balanced line. The markets, the streets, the entrances of the northern and southern cities, the dam, public buildings and official institutions have been targeted with large clean-up campaigns after clearing mines to revive the city's commercial economy and restore life to its administrative centers. The few workers where the number of cleaners at the time was 50 workers and their meager capabilities, the municipality did not have two tractor barely fit to work.
