Turkey’s practices against Oclean violate international conventions

Within the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan by the Turkish government in Imrali prison, condemning reactions of the isolation are increasing. On Thursday, the Bar Association in Kobanî issued a statement to the public opinion in that regard.

The co-chair of the Bar Association in the canton Mohammed Atti delivered the statement in front of the Bar Association’s building in Kobanî city, and dozens of lawyers attended. The statement included, “We condemn and denounce the immoral actions that are practiced by the Turkish state against the Kurdish people leader Abdullah Ocalan, and not letting the delegation of Imrali Body and the lawyers to meet the leader to complete the project of peace that was put forward by the leader Abdullah Ocalan to the Turkish state.”

What the Turkish government practices against the Kurdish people leader Abdullah Ocalan is a clear breach of all the international instruments of Human Rights. We call upon all Human Rights bodies and organizations to work with humanity for the Turkish government to release the leader Ocalan.

In this context, the Justice and Development government intensifies the isolation imposed on the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan more and more in his prison in Imrali and deprives him of the most basic rights recognized by international laws and covenants believing that this filthy policy can get the Kurdish people away from the leader and break his will for the sake of reaching his freedom.”

The isolation imposed on Ocalan is about to enter its fourth year in case all the means that connects him with his lawyers and outside has been cut off.
