How lack of fuel affected lives of civilians in Girê Spî?

Girê Spî canton on the border between Rojava and Bakur (north Kurdistan) has witnessed a shortage of fuel, causing suffering to civilians as most of their daily work is dependent on fuel.

Not only that; but the high temperatures during summer and the lack of water that reach the various parts of the canton through groundwater wells which also operate on the diesel engines consumed for fuel oil, coupled with a shortage of electricity hours because of the dependence of civilians for years on generators within the neighborhoods.

Hussein Ali, a resident of Girê Spî, said they were suffering from a lack of electricity hours in summer heat. "This has compounded our suffering in air conditioning, all due to lack of fuel."

The civilian Karim Mohammed said, "regular electricity did not reach us from years ago, and ampere generators that reduced the number of hours of operation of the generator because of lack of fuel contained."

The impact of shortage of fuel on traffic

"The fuel crisis, which has become the talk of the street for half a month, has had a great impact on the movement of transport and service cars as well.

Drivers queue in front of gas stations for long hours until their vehicles are supplied with diesel or gasoline.

Ismail Mohammed, a driver, said that they have recently had difficulties in obtaining fuel, noting that this greatly affects their work.

The amount of fuel contained is few

This crisis prompted the people to complain to the concerned authorities to handle the matter and provide fuel, since most of their work depends on fuel and transportation.

The administrator of the canton's Fuel Committee, Mustafa Ibrahim, commenting on the subject, "the amount of diesel fuel received in the canton this month was few and a reason to reduce its amount to deliver the material to all citizens."

Ibrahim pointed out that they had discussed with the concerned authorities and promised that they would solve the problem as soon as possible.
