Approximately 64,850 of children's lives at risk

The residents of Afrin have been living for about five months in al-Shahba area, after the occupation of Afrin by the Turkish occupation army. The infrastructure of the area was ineligible, which caused great obstacles for the people and the administration.

The health needs crisis is exacerbated by the Kurdish Red Crescent, where parents, especially children, suffer from health care, lack of infant formula due to the siege imposed on the area and the Syrian regime prevents the access of the milk through the roads it controls.

In this regard, the administrator of the Kurdish Red Crescent Rashid Ibish said that the lives of 64,850 children are at risk due to lack of milk and lack of health care, due to the lack of assistance from international organizations and the siege which imposed on the area.

"At the beginning of the arrival of the people of Afrin to al-Shahba area, the health status of mothers were not well, they were suffering from lack of natural milk because of lack of food and then the Red Crescent Kurdish had distributed milk to all children."

The number of children who were given milk in last June is 23,450 children whose age range from a month to a year, and about 41,400 children of a year and a half, the total number reached to about 64,850.

"But sometimes the warehouses meet our needs, but they do not have this big amount, “noting that they are facing obstacles in providing infant formula.

"This milk causes health problems for children, sometimes the type of milk distributed every month, such as Babyluck, Nan and Cilia, varies according to the stored stock, which causes the child to have stomach and intestinal diseases," Ibish said.

He appealed to the international organizations to intervene quickly in the situation and help them to provide milk for children, "because the continuation of this form may cause the risk of the lives of many children."
