Afrin people still learn their mother tongue in al-Shahba

The course began on June 20, and the commune organized the training course in the form of four groups, each of which consists of 15 people, including the elders, children and youths. Teachers were appointed to supervise the course through the Democratic Society Education Committee.

The groups receive their lessons 3 days a week within the commune’s center. In order to support the people and commune’s initiative, the Democratic Society Education Committee has provided a learning board and it also provided them with notebooks and pens.

In this regard, the co-chair of the commune Amina Khello said, "After we have been forcibly taken out from Afrin canton in the result of the aggression of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, we organize ourselves through the communes in al-Shahba. In order to avoid the problem of free times in our daily lives amid our suffering, we have opened Kurdish language courses, and no matter what we went and suffered, we will not leave our mother tongue, and we hope to return to Afrin in the near future."

For her part, the mother Aisha Ajijou thanked the commune and teachers of the Kurdish language for their efforts serving the people.
