Al-Raqqa farmers start taking care of cotton

At this time of the year, the farmers of al-Raqqa and its countryside begin to take care of their cotton crops and clean them from the herbs for better production.

The people of Raqqa rely on agriculture in the first degree. After the harvest season of wheat and barley, the farmers start working in the cotton crop, which is one of the most important irrigated crops in Syria in general.

Cotton is grown at the beginning of April, after planting, the soil is irrigated, after crop germination; the farmers begin to work for the crop to obtain production and high quality.

After a month and a half of farming, the farmers began to go to the land for the process of abstraction, a process that farmers manually do and leave between the seed and the other 25 cm and help the process to increase production and strengthen the seed, and farmers are cleaning cotton from herbs.

"We are working on weeding and in the next phase, we will spray fertilizers and water it, and I appeal to the Agriculture Committee to provide support for the cotton season."

Cotton is a hot plant, a small shrub that requires good irrigation and fertile soil to grow well to produce high quality cotton.
