Al-Mashi: Turkey is trying to restore glorious occupation reign to Syrian territory

Hawar news agency (ANHA) held an interview with Sheikh of al-Boubana clan and the Co-chair of the Legislative Council Farouk al-Mashi on the latest developments in Manbij city and continuing Turkish threats to the city.

The following is the text of the dialogue:

When did Turkish threats and ambitions begin in Manbij city?

Manbij city  and its countryside was completely occupied by Islamic State's gangs in 2014, and have changed the historical  monuments to places where people are whipped and killed especially intellectuals and the educated young people.These brutal practices forced large numbers of Manbij city's people to leave their homes and head toward North Syria areas under control Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) which are considered safe shelter.

Turkey played a major role in displacing of Manbij people where all the border doors were opened. The main objective of this step was to withdraw young people to the Turkish cities and use them as a tool and to push them later to the Syrian territories to carry out terrorist operations within the Syrian territory. The international states are still continuing to keep silent against Turkish violations especially towards young man and women and we as children of Manbij city appealed several times to the international community and the Arab League, which claims to be an incubator of the Arabs to stand in front of violations committed by Daesh and Turkey, but unfortunately, these parties remained still silent.  

Since the beginning of the campaign to liberate Manbij city and its countryside of Daesh launched after the appeal of Manbij people to free them from Daesh, the Turkish state has not stopped its campaigns against the forces of Manbij city's people and tried several times through social networking sites and media to target the forces and Manbij people, the international community and humanitarian organizations at that time and so far have to work to put an end to the Turkish state and its threats against the people of  Manbij and now children of Manbij under umbrella of Manbij Military Council.

The Turkish state neither any other state intervene when Daesh committed massacres against Manbij city's people? Why is Turkish state trying to intervene after Manbij Military Council liberated the city and made hundreds of sacrifices?

Many people claim that they are friends of the Syrian people on the table, but under the table, they are not friends, unfortunately.  When they talk about the people of Manbij, do they know who are Manbij people? Manbij people are ones who liberated their city. Unfortunately, when we talk about international collusion, many of us have relations with other countries. These meetings will not be useful, but we want to liberate this country from terrorism and from the Turkish aggression, that occupies some parts of Syria.

Justice and Development Party, represented by Erdogan, wants to re-establish its reign of glory in the Syrian territories. Afrin is proof that Turkey is trying to restore its glory. Turkish state is changing its demographics. Those who came from Homs and the eastern al-Ghouta and other places live in Afrin canton’s villages while Afrin people are outside their homeland, did Erdogan come to liberate Afrin people of its people?

When Daesh existed in Manbij areas, the Turkish state did not even issue a statement about the massacres committed by Daesh. With the start of the campaign, Turkey started threatening the people of Manbij who are in the ranks of the Manbij Military Council, so it can be said that Turkey has ambitions to return the terrorists to the city of Manbij to displace its people again and to destroy the city like IS mercenaries did. The mercenaries of the Turkish state do not have mercy on the civilians as they displaced the people of Afrin and killed them trying to repeat the scenario again and I witnessed the Turkish violations in Afrin when we went to Afrin as a civilian delegation, used all kinds of heavy and internationally-banned arms to kill us there. Therefore, it can explicitly be said that Turkey is trying again today to bring life to terrorists in another name under another banner.

Turkey is trying to legitimize the attack on Manbij city under pretext of the existence of Kurdish forces in the city, what is validity of the Turkish claims and are Kurdish fighters or Kurdish administration in Manbij city?

When the forces of Manbij Military Council were formed, it had a reserve Manbej Civil Council, the political reserve of the forces. When Manbij Military Council appealed to its people who were in the trenches to fight against Daesh, People and Women Protection Units (YPG, YPJ) and other factions under the banner of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF),  appealed to Manbij Military Council to liberate Manbij city from grip of Daesh and headed with their brothers in Manbij Military Council towards Manbij city to liberate it.

After liberating Manbij city by sacrifices of the joint forces led by   People and Women Protection Units (YPG,YPJ) to liberate Manbij city in full, the forces officially withdrew from Manbij city and handed the military administration over fully to Manbij Military Council made up of  the children of Manbij, today advisers belonging to People Protection Units (YPG) who were training Manbij Military Council fighters withdraw.

What is your position on the Turkish-American meeting on the fate of Manbij?

There is a permanent consultation between the International Coalition and civil administration in Manbij. The International Coalition has had many visits recently in Manbij city. We have no hostility with the Turkish state, but our hostility with Erdogan's AKP party, which constantly threatens Manbij city permanently.

We are a people who are aware of what is going on around us and know what is right in the city. Therefore, we demand that the international states take into consideration the situation in Manbij and confront the schemes of the Turkish state. Whatever the agreements are, Turkey will try to target Manbij people.

Your appeal to Manbij city's people?

We should look to Manbij as a social fabric for all components, and build what has been destroyed by Daesh and extremists. We believe in our youth and the Syrian women, not just Manbij’s. Manbij city is part of a unified Syria. We seek to stop the bloodshed and call upon the honorable people to support us to stop the Syrian bloodshed.
