The crossing point’s administration completely regulates the entry and exit of materials and goods and ensures the materials needed by the citizen through the support of imports and facilitates transit, in addition to monitoring the markets' movement and their needs and works on the export of surplus materials to activate the movement of sale and purchase.

The administrator in the Customs of al-Tabqa, Maarouf Othman said that there are a number of materials exempted from customs fees completely, and it is "medicines of all kinds: human, agricultural and veterinary, agricultural fertilizers, pesticides for agricultural crops, humanitarian aid", for the rest of the food like foodstuff, vegetables and fruits, a simple amount of money is paid per ton.

There are also some materials that are prohibited from leaving the area through the customs crossing in order to prevent the monopoly process by traders in the event of less presence in the markets, "agricultural fertilizer, agricultural seeds, aluminum, copper" In addition to the wheat and cotton, such materials shall be required to take a transit permission from the competent entity on the materials either from the Agriculture Directorate or the Commerce Directorate of the Economic Committee of the Democratic Civil Administration of al-Tabqa.

A project is currently under study to form a joint committee comprising members from the Commerce Directorate, the Agriculture Directorate and the Health Committee to improve the mechanism of the crossing and control the incoming and outgoing materials within its jurisdiction.

By the 24th-hour patrols by the General Directorate of the crossing and the Internal Security Forces are fully monitored to combat smuggling. If smuggled materials are seized, they are completely confiscated if they are in the export-prohibited list as well as a fine, but if the materials are permitted to export, the merchant is fined 5 times of the basic value of the items.
