Wheat silos in Girê Sipî receive wheat for first time since 7 years

Nearly seven years after the Syrian crisis, the center of grain silos at al-Sakhrat Center receives wheat from farmers on the expenses of Democratic Autonomous Administration in Girê Sipî / Tel Abyad, as a result of the war state in the area.

Al-Sakhrat villages' silos, located south of Girê Sipî city, 25 km, was opened on Sunday, following the efforts of the Agriculture and Economy Committee of Democratic Autonomous Administration in Girê Sipî and carrying out all the repair costs resulting from the theft and destruction of its infrastructure by the armed factions that invaded the area over the past years during the Syrian crisis.

"We have had many difficulties because of the looting and destruction of furniture in the silos by terrorist gangs," said the engineer and head of Girê Sipî silos center Abdullah Khalil.

Al-Khalil said that the maintenance and restoration of silos period lasted about a month with the efforts and funding of Democratic Autonomous Administration. "We are now working in a semi-automatic manner," he said.

Wheat grains are only received in the silos with their harsh and soft quality. The farmer goes to the silos with papers from the village communes and the district council, in which he writes the expected quantity and the driver's name to be approved by the Mills Department.

There are three main grades of wheat quality:

- The first degree is to buy one kilo with 175 SP.

- The second degree is to buy one kilo with 173.4 l. SP.

- The third degree is to buy one kilo with 171.5 SP.

There is also a fourth degree, which is priced according to quality. In this year, crops were generally affected by the lack of rainfall and the infection of the fields with NIBATDA due to the spread of poor seed quality.

Al-Sakhrat" silos, which are for 12 thousand tons, received on the first day of entry into operation an amount estimated at 565 tons and 150 kg.

Labor force

The silos are staffed by 13 workers supervising the unloading of dikma from  grain, two technicians supervising the operation and maintenance of silos, and eleven staff members including the yard expert, the control room, the analysis expert and the accounting room.

The wheat price is paid to the farmer every 15 days of unloading the seeds in the silos.

Once the sand silos have been filled, the grain will be directed to Ain Issa, al-Jalabiya, and al-Dehleiz silos until the end of the harvest.

Al-Khalil pointed out that all the farmers are in a hurry to harvest their crops because the wheat that goes to the silos has moisture in it.
