Al-Tabqa's countryside begins summer damaged crops harvest

As summer crops mature, especially cucumbers, melons and tomatoes, the crops have been affected by heavy rainfall and flooding, prompting farmers to take preventive and remedial steps to tackle the problem

Saikol town witnessed in the northwestern countryside of al-Tabqa city witnessed heavy rain and hail which affected the season of the red melon and tomato, considering it has fully ripened.

In this context, the farmer Ibrahim Mustafa Mohammed from the Saikol town said that the greater damage to cucumber right and partial damage to the production of melons and tomatoes, but the problem was remedied after the support of the crop organic fertilizers, which contributed to some extent in saving the crop.

Mustafa noted "If we did not see rainfall and weather fluctuations, we have seen the four seasons in a single hot, cold and stormy day, our vegetables would now be sold at markets and land would have been full of workers."

It should be noted that the Saikol people rely on the irrigation of their land entirely on artesian wells to the geographical distance from the Euphrates River and in the opposite side of the damage caused by rainfall and floods, it also contributed to raising the level of groundwater in general.

During the coming week, the cucumber crop and the red melon will be harvested according to the farmer from Saiko town Ibrahim Mustafa al-Muhammad.
