Pits obstacle traffic in al-Raqqa, Services Committee working on it

The drivers of the vehicles, especially the internal transport, have difficulty in moving because of the pits within the streets of al-Raqqa city as a result of the battles that took place in the city and tunnels dug by Islamic State's gangs (IS), while the services committee in the municipality works to repair according to the available possibilities.

Car drivers suffer from the pits in the roads inside al-Raqqa city, which turned into rough roads as a result of the battles have witnessed in al-Raqqa city, and the tunnels dug by Islamic State 's gangs(IS)

After liberating al-Raqqa city from grip of Islamic State's gangs (IS) by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters, these roads have become major problem for drivers who are facing difficulties in moving, including internal transport drivers because these pits do obstacle their movement.

The roads in the city need maintenance, with a 40% damage rate, most of which are main roads.

Khalil Mustafa and Khaled al-Nafa, two drivers in the city, said: "We have difficulties in moving around the city because of the large number of pits on the highways and secondary roads. As taxi drivers, we suffer from this problem."

The Vice Co-chair of the Committee of Local Administration and Municipalities in al-Raqqa Civil Council Ahmed Khalil said "The Services Committee is preparing a study of all the roads damaged, and we are currently working within the available means to mobilize the roads, and we are working on activating the Asphalt Trail to repair the roads to repair the roads once the completion of the Asphalt Mountain."
