Harvesting grains' in al-Tabqa is imminent amid fears of poor production, quality

Farmers and harvesters in al-Tabqa and its countryside began preparations for wheat and barley harvest season at a time of concern over poor production and grain quality as a result of Turkish state's restraint of Euphrates River, the main feeder for farmers along the river.

The cultivation of wheat and barley is widespread in the countryside of al-Tabqa's countryside because the majority of its populations depend on agriculture.

As wheat and barley harvest season approached in June, harvesters began processing, repairing, re-scrapping and changing the pieces to be ready.

For their part, farmers began buying bags of "canvas bag", which can accommodate about 100 kg.

"We are preparing harvesters for harvest season, which will start after one month or more, and the equipment will include the maintenance of the entire machinery," said one of the harvesters in northwestern area of al-Jarniya.

These preparations are being carried out amid expectations of a decline in production and quality due to Turkish state's seizure of Euphrates River, as the people of al-Tabqa depend on it to irrigate their crops, as well as lower rainfall rates than in previous years.
