ANB condemns demographic change, demands investigating occupation’s violations

After the Turkish occupation army displaced Afrin's people and robbed their properties, it began, in agreement with Russia, to settle the mercenaries and their families who were existed in the countryside of Damascus. In this regard, the Arab National Body issued a statement condemning what it called the criminal operations of the Turkish state.

The text of the statement included:

"With the repeated displacement operations of the residents of the areas that witnessed battles in the countryside of Damascus after the Turkish-Russian and the mercenary gangs consensus, in addition to the deportation of their elements from there, the fears of our people, especially the people of Afrin are increasing, as well as the resettlement of the mercenaries’ families after the houses and properties of Afrin people have been robbed and looted.

The Turkish military and administrative presence in the area of Afrin carries all the characteristics and qualities of the occupying state in accordance with the international law, the fact that made it clear that the Turkish government pushed its army to invade the territories of a neighboring country, subjected the Syrian area of ​​Afrin to the control of foreign military forces, and raised the Turkish flag on the headquarters, institutions and public squares. The Turkish forces worked on building military points and headquarters on the border from the Syrian side and in the depth of the area.

On behalf of the Arab National Body, we condemn these criminal acts which are contrary to all human values ​​and norms, and we warn of the consequences of carrying out such settlement operations and trying to change the demographic reality which seriously threatens the civil and social peace.

We call on the concerned countries of Syria, the United Nations and the international community to stand against that, and send special committees to the area to investigate the violations and crimes and to examine the effects of the occupation, as well as the suffering of the displaced, to ensure their safe return to their homes.
