Two Italian municipalities grant honorary citizenship to Abdullah Ocalan

In parallel with the anniversary of the birth of the Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Ocalan, two new Italian municipalities have granted honorary citizenship to Ocalan, bringing the number of municipalities that grant honorary citizenship to Ocalan to 9 municipalities.

The two municipalities said in a statement The municipality of Castel de Guidesse of the city of Isernia and the municipality of Castell Potacheo of the city of Campobasso decided to grant the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan the honorary nationality.
The decision by the municipal councils to meet and vote by majority was approved.
"Ocalan, as a person who has contributed so much to peace and his constructive role in achieving peace in the Middle East, has issued our decision to grant Ocalan's honorary citizenship."
The statement stressed that Ocalan is seen as a leader of the Kurdish people and he has been detained for about 20 years on the Turkish island of Imrali under strict isolation.
The statement called on all municipalities in the region to be in solidarity with Ocalan and to grant him honorary citizenship.
The statement pointed to the Turkish aggression on Afrin, and strongly criticized the attempts of international occupation and silence on these violations.
According to the Frat news agency, the document for the granting of honorary citizenship by the municipalities of Ocalan will be presented during an official ceremony held in the city center of the city of Campobasso on May 4.
It is noteworthy that 7 Italian municipalities granted honorary citizenship to the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan, the municipalities of "Palermo, Naples, Balagonia, Reggio Emilia, Riachi, Martano and Pinerolo", bringing the number of municipalities 9.
