Women lead, successful project for plastic houses in Tirbe Sipi

QAMISHLO- Green Houses project, supervised by the Women's Economy Committee, was established at Kongra Star last year. The houses were very successful this year and the most successful vegetable was the cucumber product, which reached 41 tons.

The purpose of constructing plastic houses is to close the way for some traders to monopolize the vigetables markets and reduce the price to suit the parents' income, and provides work for some poor families in the plastic houses and with their contribute in agriculture, benefite from the project.

The project is 16 houses, while the Economic Office seeks to increase the number to 21 houses.

The area of ​​each plastic house 40 length and 6 meters width, and the land area of ​​2 acres, and irrigated crops drip irrigation.

Over the past year, plastic houses have been the only option for success, and after their availability in the market, they started growing tomatoes and eggplants.

The project is supervised by 10 women, one of whom is an agricultural engineer who supervises the process of farming and the others start growing crops themselves.

Plastic hoses are used to prevent insects and weeds, using manure, chemical fertilizers.

"A new experiment is developing in North Syria and is trying to raise the economic standard in the area," said the administrator of Women's Economy Committee at Kongra Star Howria Shamdein.

"Women have been able to open dozens of associations and projects that benefit women and contributed to the construction of their personality," said Howria.
