Plan to expand Berkhdan camp in al-Shahba canton to 20 hectares

AL_SHAHBA -In order to accommodate Berkhdan camp, the largest number of Afrin residents who were forced to leave their homes because of the shelling of the Turkish occupation of Afrin and its villages, the People's Committee of al-Shahba canton and in coordination with the Department of Afrin canton in the area of ​​Favin erected about 250 tents in the camp in Favin area on the area of ​​12 , 5 ha.

Due to the overcrowding of the residents of Afrin in the villages of al-Shahba district, the People's Committee decided to expand the camp to 20 hectares to ensure the residents of the camp, which is still in the processing and setting up tents.

According to camp administrator Norshan Hussein, "the camp will guarantee 3,000 tents, but due to many people are still staying in the wilderness, they hastily erected 250 tents."

Also, the Administrations  of Afrin and al-Shahba districts are working to provide the necessary supplies for the families and work to extend the network of electrical tension and water security. The comminces will be formed within the camp to provide assistance in organizing and life.

Hawar news agency (ANHA) interviewed with the Administrator the camp Nurshan Hussian " After studying plans for the location of tents and health banks, the municipality has set up medical points in addition to the opening of shops for daily necessities ".

"Nurshan pointed increasing number of Afrin families in al-Shahba canton, we are working to expand the area of ​​the camp to accommodate the residents.

She added "We have not received any support from any humanitarian or international organization or human rights organization, so I appeal to human rights organizations and stakeholders to do their duty to provide assistance because we are facing a humanitarian catastrophe,"
