On Wednesday, Australian police confirmed the return of 13 Australians from northeast Syria, among them 4 women and 9 children who had been residing in the Roj camp, under strict security and legal procedures.

Australian Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke, during a press conference, announced that the group is expected to arrive at Sydney and Melbourne airports on Thursday, following arrangements made for their repatriation.

Burke stressed that the Australian government will not provide support to these individuals, noting that anyone found to be involved in crimes will face full legal consequences.

For its part, the police stated that it has gathered evidence from inside Syria as part of ongoing investigations into potential crimes, including travel to restricted areas or involvement in illegal activities.
