A rights network reported the killing of 10 women and 9 cases of suicide in various areas of East Kurdistan.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network announced the killing of 10 women in different parts of East Kurdistan during the past month of May, in addition to the suicide of 9 other women under mysterious circumstances, due to social and family pressures, according to Roj News Agency.

In a report published by the network, detailed statistics on cases of violence against women were recorded, showing 10 murders and 9 suicides during the same period.

The Women’s News Agency (NUJINHA) revealed in a separate report an increase in rates of violence against women and children in Iran, documenting the killing of 40 women and 5 children within just one month, as well as the execution of 6 women after being convicted in various cases.

The numbers indicate a rise in crimes of violence against women, with 158 women killed in Iran and East Kurdistan during 2024, alongside 16,567 cases of domestic violence against women.
