10 Kurdish youths arrested on Raqqa–Hasakah road

Sources reported today that members of the General Security forces stopped approximately 10 Kurdish youths at the Al-Karama checkpoint in the Raqqa countryside while they were heading to Hasakah Governorate accompanied by their family members.

The sources explained that the youths were from the city of Afrin and were taken to an unknown location, with no official clarification issued regarding the reasons for their detention or their place of custody.

The sources also confirmed that checkpoint personnel detained only the young men, while the women accompanying them were allowed to continue their journey. This has raised concerns among the detainees’ families, who are demanding information about their fate and calling for their release.

This incident comes only days after an arrest campaign carried out by Interim Government forces in the towns of Tal Aran and Tal Hasel in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, targeting several residents during raids and search operations.

It is worth noting that Article 14 of the January 29 agreement between the Interim Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces stipulated efforts to reach understandings concerning the safe and dignified return of the residents of Afrin and Sheikh Maqsoud to their areas.
