Zenobia Women's Gathering reveals Turkey's intentions in Syria

The Zenobia Women’s Gathering Council in the Tabqa region called on the people of North and East Syria to be wary of the consequences of falling into the attempts by the Turkish occupying state and its mercenaries to incite strife in the region.

In a statement delivered today in the city of Tabqa, read by council member Najah Al-Hussein in the presence of members of institutions and bodies affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of the Tabqa region and women’s organizations, the council referred to the recent developments in Syria, which led to the fall of the oppressive Ba’ath Party regime. That regime subjected the Syrian people to displacement, killing, and destruction for fourteen years.

The council expressed its deep gratitude to all those who contributed to this significant achievement, to the national forces that declared their support for justice, and to the Syrian people for their resilience in the face of oppression and for enduring suffering in pursuit of freedom and dignity. It also highlighted the suffering of Syrian women amid this crisis and their struggle within the movement for change to preserve the stability of their families and society.

The statement from the Zenobia Women’s Gathering Council pointed to attempts by many forces to exploit this "great victory" to incite war and destabilize security and stability in the North and East Syria region in order to achieve their ambitions and plans, after the Syrian Democratic Forces liberated the area from ISIS mercenaries.

The statement emphasized that the region of North and East Syria has managed, in an exceptional manner, to achieve security, peace, and stability among all its components due to their unity and collective struggle. It clarified that the ongoing threats and attacks by the Turkish state aim solely to achieve its plan of expansion and occupation of Syrian territories, declaring, "We will not accept this, and our people must not be drawn into this scheme."

The council called on the Syrian Interim Government to "take into account the voice of our people and ensure their interests and needs are met in building a democratic Syria." It also addressed the people of North and East Syria, saying, "Our people must be cautious of falling into the strife that would disturb the victory we achieved against an oppressive regime."

The statement affirmed that the strife Turkey seeks to provoke among the components of the Syrian people will only bring further ruin and destruction. "We must combat this by overcoming our differences and facing challenges together in unity to achieve peace and stability in our homeland."

It concluded with, "We must focus at this historical stage on building the future of Syria we dream of, a future of peace, justice, and human rights, that can only be realized through the efforts of all free Syrian men and women joining this struggle."
