YPJ, SDF capture top ISIS leader in Deir ez-Zor

The YPJ's Media Center reported that the YPJ and the SDF managed to arrest, the leading ISIS Figure in Deir ez-Zor," Muhammad al-Bakhit, (Abu Ghamid).

 The Center stated,“In a special qualitative operation carried out by the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and the Syrian Democratic Forces in Deir ez-Zor managed to arrest the terrorist Muhammad al-Bakhit, who committed many terrorist acts.

The mercenary from the Shuhail area of Deir ez-Zor, joined the Free Army in 2011, and worked actively in Azaz, Aleppo and Idlib. He fought against the Women's Protection Units and the People's Protection Units in the Yarubiyah area.

After liberating the Deir ez-Zor region from ISIS mercenaries, the mercenary "Abu Ghamid" returned to the Shuhail area. He, along with another mercenary leader called “Ibrahim Al-Hafel,” formed the “Albu Jamil Repels ”. This formation, affiliated with ISIS, carries out incitement activities with the aim of creating tension and strife between the people of the region and the Syrian Democratic Forces. The terrorist committed many crimes in addition to the destruction of military equipment.

On June 26, while the mercenary “Abu Ghamed” was secretly crossing from Damascus-controlled areas into the Al-Shuhail area in Deir ez-Zor to incite the people of the region, especially the tribes, against the Syrian Democratic Forces. However, he was arrested by by a joint operation of YPJ and SDF.
