Journalist Sleiman Ahmed's trail postponed until July 29th

Roj News Agency reported that the Dohuk court decided to postpone the trial of its editor, journalist Sleiman Ahmed, until the end of next month during today's session.

The agency indicated in a news report published on its official website the date of the next session, "postponing consideration of the case until July 29th."

Roj News Agency's editor, Sleiman Ahmed, was abducted by the Kurdistan Democratic Party forces at the Fishkhabour crossing on October 25, 2023, while returning to Southern Kurdistan after visiting his family in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo on October 1.

Forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party claimed, a week after the abduction of Sleiman Ahmed, in a statement riddled with contradictions, that his abduction "is not related to his journalistic work," while admitting to abducting him and openly threatening to punish him.

After being abducted for more than 7 months, Sleiman's lawyers managed to meet with him, allowing his lawyer to meet with him at Asayish Dohuk Prison on May 22, under pressure from journalists, press unions, local and international organizations.
