YPJ: Meetings with interior ministry to continue over completing Integration

The General Command of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) revealed details of its meeting with the Interior Ministry of the transitional government, describing it as positive and noting that discussions focused on the future of the units and the possibility of integrating them, in their specialized capacity, into the ministry’s structure.

The General Command of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) published a written statement on its official website Thursday, revealing details of a meeting held Wednesday evening between members of the units’ leadership and Interior Minister Anas Khattab.

The statement said, “On August 26, the General Command of the Women’s Protection Units held a meeting with an official delegation from the Interior Ministry of the transitional government in Damascus.”

It added, “During the meeting, issues of security and stability in Syria, as well as the future of cooperation and coordination between the two sides, were discussed extensively.”

The statement said the main focus of the meeting was the future of the YPJ, with both sides affirming the possibility of integrating the YPJ “as a special and organized force within the structure of the Interior Ministry.”

The General Command described the meeting as taking place in a “positive and constructive atmosphere” and concluded by affirming, “In order to complete and finalize the integration process within the framework of the January 29, 2026, agreement, our meetings and discussions will continue.”
