Yazidis in Jazira Canton celebrated the Yazidi New Year, known as "Red Wednesday," today. The Yazidi House organized a special celebration in the village of Dokar, located in Amuda city.

The celebration was widely attended by various institutions and communities from North and East Syria, reflecting the spirit of diversity and coexistence that characterizes the region.

The large attendance from the institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, including the delegation of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, represented by Co-Chair Avin Sweid, and representatives of political parties and civil society organizations, reflected a commitment to strengthening brotherhood and cooperation among the various components.

The celebration began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a performance by the Farouk religious hymn band, emphasizing the importance of this day, which represents the completion of the universe in Yazidi beliefs.

Ismail Delf, administrator of the Yazidi House, then spoke, noting that "Red Wednesday" is a symbol of renewal and nature, linked to the concepts of spring and the flourishing of life.

Hassan Shero, co-chair of the Executive Council of al-Jazira Canton, also delivered a prominent speech in which he emphasized that this holiday is a holiday for all the peoples of the region, not just the Yazidis. He explained that the celebration reflects the richness of society with its cultural and religious diversity and strengthens the bonds of unity between the various components.

Shero emphasized that the Autonomous Administration will continue to support all components of the region and work to consolidate the principles of equality and justice among religions and cultures.

Sheikh Murshid Ma'shuq al-Khaznawi also spoke, highlighting the importance of unity among peoples in the face of challenges. He emphasized that the Yazidi community has faced significant difficulties, but remains committed to its identity and culture.

This was followed by a reading of Leader Abdullah Ocalan's letter to the Yazidi community by the co-chair of the Yazidi House in Afrin, which added a symbolic dimension to the celebration.

The celebration included various artistic performances, including the Martyr Lalish Band performing folkloric dances, and the Theater School Band presented a theatrical performance.

The ceremony continued with performances by the Zardasht Shengali Band and the Martyr Azda Band, along with a poem recited by the poet Bishroj Jawhari, reflecting on Red Wednesday.

The celebration concluded with a distinguished artistic performance by artists Mohammed Walid and Ibo Jan, where the audience participated in episodes of the popular Dabke, reflecting the spirit of brotherhood and cultural diversity that characterizes the Yazidi community and the components of North and East Syria.
