Workers in Aleppo protest against dismissal decisions

Protests by dismissed workers continue in a number of Syrian cities, rejecting decisions they described as "arbitrary" against them.

A number of workers in Aleppo city organized a protest today, Sunday, in front of the Workers Union building, denouncing the decision to dismiss them from work, demanding that the concerned authorities reconsider the decision and do them justice.

The protesters raised banners expressing their rejection of what they described as "job arbitrariness", stressing that the dismissal decisions came without clear justifications, which threatens their livelihood and increases their suffering in light of the difficult economic conditions the country is going through.

Workers in Latakia city had held a sit-in on February 16 to protest the dismissal decisions and the suspension of wage contracts for workers in official institutions, which they described as "arbitrary", under the slogan "We are not just numbers, we want to build a country", which included hundreds of those dismissed from the port, customs and maritime transport, in front of the customs and port building in Latakia city.
