Women's Council in DIC decries assaults on 2 women in Raqqa

The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria arrested two of those who assaulted the two young women, while the search is still ongoing for the third person, according to what the forces published on their official website on Wednesday (February 28).

The Women’s Council of the Democratic Islam Conference in the North and East region of Syria made a joint statement in Qamishlo, Tabqa, Hasaka, and Aleppo. It was read in Qamishlo by the member of the Conference’s Women’s Council, Amira Al-Izzo, and in Hasaka by the member of the Conference, Marwa Abdo, while in Tapqa by the member of the Women’s Council Bayda Al-Ahmad.

The Council condemned the brutal crimes committed against women, and stressed that: This crime indicates inferiority of the male mentality in the society."

In a similar context, the Zenobia Women’s Assembly Council in Deir ez-Zor made a statement, which was read in front of the People’s Assembly Square in the Sousse district by the co-chair of the People’s Assembly in the town of Hajin, Aida Al-Golan.

The statement denounced the heinous crime against the two young women, and stressed that “women are always victims of the male mentalities and are constantly exposed to physical violence,” and stressed that “these crimes aim to enslave women.”
