The displaced people of the occupied city of Tal Abyad/Gire Spi and the town of Suluk are demanding an end to the occupation and a halt to the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, so they can safely return to their homes from which they were forcibly displaced, amid ongoing suffering and hopes are still pined.

The second meeting held between the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces and representatives of the Damascus authorities on April 12th discussed the formation of a specialized committee to discuss the return of forcibly displaced people from various Syrian regions, within the framework of implementing the provisions of the agreement reached on March 10th.

In this context, the voices of the displaced people from the occupied city of Tal Abyad/Gire Spi and the town of Suluk have risen, demanding the expedited implementation of the agreement and the withdrawal of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries to ensure their safe return to their homes, which continue to suffer from violations and crimes.

Displaced person Ibrahim al-Issa from the village of Khirbet al-Baqar in the western countryside of Tal Abyad said sadly: "The mercenaries are still tampering with our areas, occupying our villages and seizing our homes and lands. After the agreement, we were optimistic, but more than a month has passed and we have not seen any real steps on the ground. The mercenaries are still present, as if nothing has changed."

Displaced person Aziz al-Mazroui from the occupied town of Suluk was browsing the news when we met, searching for news that would restore his hope of returning home: "We have been displaced for more than five years! We live in camps while the mercenaries live in our homes. They forcibly displaced us and seized everything."

Al-Mazroui added: "The presence of the mercenaries is the biggest obstacle to our return. We demand that the Damascus authorities assume their responsibility and hold those who committed these crimes accountable, to ensure our safe return to our homes."

The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries' occupation of the cities of Tal Abyad and Suluk has displaced thousands of people, many of whom are now living in difficult conditions. Some are residing in camps, while others have settled in cities and towns across northeastern Syria, awaiting relief.
