Virtual dialogue seminar on Syrian situation and promoting national dialogue

 Under the theme “The Current Syrian Situation: Challenges and Future Prospects,” the Syrian Democratic Council convened a virtual seminar featuring experts, political figures, and civil society representatives. Discussions centered on pressing challenges and pathways to envision Syria's future.

 Role of Dialogue in achieving stability

 The seminar commenced with welcoming remarks from Fatima Al-Husayno, an administrative figure at the Relations Office of the Syrian Democratic Council. She underscored the indispensable role of dialogue as a fundamental tool for addressing current issues and fostering a shared future that meets the aspirations of all Syrians.

 In the first session, Khabbat Mohammed, the member of the Presidential Body and Co-Chair of the Secretariat of the Syrian Democratic Council, presented an extensive overview of the challenges facing Syria today. He highlighted the absence of a unifying national discourse encompassing all Syrian components.

 Mohammed emphasized the necessity of recognizing the cultural diversity and ethnic distinctiveness that define the Syrian people. He asserted that stability requires adopting dialogue as a foundational mechanism for overcoming the accumulated crises.

 He concluded by advocating for a national conference inclusive of all democratic and national forces, enabling Syrians to genuinely contribute to shaping their future, free from exclusion or marginalization.

 The second session, led by political analyst Mustafa Rustam, focused on envisioning Syria’s future. Rustam emphasized the urgency of creating a conducive environment for comprehensive national dialogue, ensuring representation for all Syrian factions without discrimination.

 He pointed out that drafting a new constitution reflecting the aspirations of all Syrians is an essential step toward building a democratic state.

 Rustam further stressed the importance of addressing the country’s pressing security and economic challenges, noting that widespread insecurity and ongoing conflict remain significant obstacles to stability. Practical solutions to these crises, he argued, are integral to constructing Syria’s future.

 The seminar witnessed in-depth discussions among participants, exploring future scenarios and potential solutions to the prevailing situation. Central to these debates was the focus on promoting national reconciliation and broadening the scope of dialogue to encompass all democratic national forces.

 The seminar concluded with a collective call for unity and enhanced cooperation among the diverse Syrian components to ensure the establishment of a democratic and pluralistic state that respects the rights of all its components and fulfills its people's aspirations for peace and stability.
