US airstrike kills current ISIS leader in Deir ez-Zor

The US Central Command announced that it carried out a precise airstrike in Deir ez-Zor, targeting two ISIS mercenaries, including a leader, while the commander of the US Central Command said that ISIS is seeking to release more than 8,000 of its mercenaries in facilities of NE Syria.

 The US Central Command announced today that its forces carried out a precise airstrike yesterday, targeting two ISIS mercenaries, including a leader.

 The Central Command added, in a statement on the X platform, that one of the mercenaries is an ISIS leader named Abu Yusuf.

 "The United States, in partnership with our allies and partners in the region, will not allow ISIS to exploit the current situation in Syria and regroup," said U.S. Central Command Commander Michael Kurilla.

"ISIS is seeking to free more than 8,000 of its members," Kurilla added.
