QAMISHLO

Under the slogan "Our martyrs are our dignity, our fighters are our strength and protection," the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council in Rojava organized a protest today at the Martyr Dalil Sarukhan Shrine in Qamishlo

Participating in the protest, alongside members of the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council, were representatives from the Kongra Star and civil society activists, who carried pictures of their sons, martyrs of the Rojava Revolution.

Following the protest, the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council issued a statement calling on international powers to take immediate action to determine the fate of the missing, ensure the safety of prisoners, and uphold the dignity of the martyrs by returning the bodies of the fighters. The statement was read in Kurdish by member Fatima Ma'mu and in Arabic by member Jihan Yusuf.

The statement read:

To the public, human rights and humanitarian organizations and committees, and to our comrades everywhere, we, the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council, from the heart of the resistance-filled Jazeera region, are following with bitterness and deep concern the rapidly escalating developments and systematic aggression targeting the gains of our revolution in Rojava, amidst complicit international silence.

What is happening today is not merely a military conflict, but an attempt to annihilate the will of women and break the spirit of a society that has breathed freedom thanks to the sacrifices of our sons and daughters.

Our hearts ache as we witness the desecration of the funerals of our martyred sons and daughters in the most inhumane and horrific ways, alongside the desecration of martyrs' shrines in the areas from which our military forces have withdrawn. Attacking the shrines of martyrs who sacrificed themselves for humanity against the largest terrorist organization, destroying gravestones, and exhuming the remains of our heroes is nothing but evidence of moral bankruptcy and a war crime that shames humanity.

These shrines represent the dignity of our people and the memory of our struggle. Any attack on them is a direct assault on every mother, wife, and child in this homeland.

We also demand that the international community take immediate action to uncover the fate of the missing, ensure the safety of prisoners, and preserve the dignity of our martyrs by returning the remains of the fighters who, for the second time, served as a shield protecting society from the barbarity and brutality of terrorist elements.

We, in the Women's Council, clearly see the vindictive and chauvinistic practices employed by the so-called "Interim Government" and its factions. Those who have allowed themselves to be tools in the hands of others do not represent the aspirations of the Syrian people. Rather, they seek to entrench and perpetuate a policy of intimidation and plunder, especially against women, who were at the forefront of the Rojava Revolution.

Accordingly, we, the mothers, sons, and wives of the martyrs in the Council of Families of Martyrs, demand that the parties guaranteeing the ceasefire agreement take action and work to hand over to us our martyred sons and daughters whose bodies are still in the open, which is a violation of the sanctity of the martyrs and contrary to the ethics of war

We affirm that these violations will not weaken our resolve, but rather strengthen our determination to protect our cause and our achievements.

We believe that the blood of our martyrs will not be shed in vain, and we will pursue those responsible for the desecration of shrines, the mutilation of our martyrs' remains, and the mistreatment and torture of prisoners in all international forums.

We appeal to international human rights organizations to intervene immediately regarding the violations committed against our holy sites and our martyrs, those who sacrificed themselves for human values. We also call upon all women of the world to stand with us in our cause and protect our dignity and legitimate rights.
