The Syrian-Lebanese border has recently witnessed unusual Israeli activity, spanning areas from Yafour town in western Damascus countryside, about 18 kilometers from Damascus, to Jindal Castle in the Mount Hermon area, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

An Israeli force conducted an incursion into the village of Rakhleh, opposite the Lebanese town of Yahmar near the border strip, a precedent never before recorded in this area.

The Israeli incursion targeted military sites and barracks belonging to the former 36th Regiment, which Hezbollah used around Jindal Castle in Mount Hermon. Israeli helicopters were also spotted flying over Yafour, where they carried out airborne landings.

Mount Hermon is considered a strategic point for Israel due to its military importance and its location overlooking three countries (Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine), providing a wide monitoring capability over the region.
