People in Manbij Canton continue to sign for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and the process of collecting signatures is now concentrated in the villages of Muhtarrak and Muhtarak Kabir areas.

The co-chair of the Muhtarrak Council, Mounir Al-Awad, confirmed: “We have been continuing the signature campaign since the beginning of March, and so far we have collected one hundred thousand signatures, and we are continuing this campaign until the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan is achieved.”

Mounir Al-Awad stated that the turnout of the signatories is witnessing momentum, and he said: “Large numbers of people are arriving to sign the petition demanding the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.”

In turn, a member of the Syrian Popular Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, Muhammad Hussam Al-Shawakh, confirmed: “There is unparalleled participation by the people in the signatures, and it stems from the people’s belief that the leader’s physical freedom is an urgent and basic need.”

Since the 9th of February of this year, the North and East Syria region has witnessed a campaign to collect signatures launched by the Popular Initiative for the North and East Syria Region, aiming to convey the voice of the North and East Syria community regarding the issue of Leader Abdullah Ocalan to the European Union Council.

On March 15, the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan confirmed that it had collected more than two million and 800 thousand signatures, and that the campaign is close to achieve its goal, by collecting 3 million signatures.
