A university student in the city of Hama was killed after being shot by unknown assailants at the entrance of the university dormitory, in an incident that shocked students and reignited the debate about the state of security within educational institutions.

Student Laith Othman (22 years old), a fifth-year student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and from Qardaha, was killed after being shot by unknown assailants inside the university campus in Hama.

According to ANHA correspondent, Othman was returning from his practical exam when, upon reaching the entrance of the university dormitory, a silver Jeep intercepted him. Unidentified gunmen inside the vehicle then fired at least three shots from a weapon equipped with a silencer.

The student was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but succumbed to his injuries despite the medical staff's efforts to save him.

The incident occurred at the entrance to the dormitory at Hama University, raising questions about the security measures. The university administration has yet to issue an official statement clarifying the circumstances of the crime or the initial findings of the investigation.
