Videos circulating on social media show the Turkish occupation army using heavy machinery and military equipment to open a wide road believed to be designated for transporting troops and military equipment within the area. The excavation works have altered the natural features of the landscape and, according to local sources, have also damaged ancient archaeological sites that reflect the region’s historical character.

Information indicates continued expansion in building roads and military points in villages and mountainous border areas within Duhok province, raising concerns among civilians about the potential escalation of security tensions and their impact on stability and livelihoods.

Since 2019, the Turkish occupation has expanded its military attacks inside border areas of Southern Kurdistan.

Over the past years, dozens of military points, bases, and strategic roads have been established along the border strip. According to local reports, this has affected demographic and environmental conditions, with several villages evacuated, casualties recorded, and varying degrees of environmental damage reported.
